This engine lived from October 20, 2001 to January 17. 2003. It lasted over 45,000 miles, and died because the nut behind the wheel did something stupid. Go back to the home page to see more. Here is the long awaited report about my engine swap. This took place over 3 weeks at Intercrew Auto Salon in Richardson, Texas (north part of Dallas), and cost me my left arm, right leg, and left nut. The swap consists of:
The only thing that's visually changed on the car is the appearance of that nice subtle Evo tip in the back! Right now with very rough tuning, the engine is making 185hp/140lbft at the wheels. Factor in driveline loss, and that comes out to about 220hp/165lbft at the crank! I'm hoping to hit close to 200whp (235-240 @ crank) once I have the time to get tuned properly. Then I'll upgrade the cams, valvetrain, do some headwork, and see where that takes me... The dyno chart is at the bottom, by the way. I've kept you all waiting long enough- here are the pictures. Phillip was missing the main bearings, so he wasn't able to start putting the new engine together yet. Damn bombings were slowing down shipments... He already had the engine out of the car, so I took a few pictures of that.
