Thinking about planning a day (night) trip to Mt Washington. Sunrise Drives | Mt. Washington Auto Road
August 26th, (sunday) the road opens at 4am so you can get to the top before sunrise and watch it come up over the ocean.
G Maps says it's a 5 hour ride, roughly, from hartford.

It's about another 45 to an hour up the access road.
nap sat afternoon, Leave here sat night at like 10pm, drive up, see the sunrise, take pics, pimp the gift shop, come home by sun afternoon in time to get 12+ hours of sleep for the work day on monday.
No big trucks and there are some STRICT vehicle limitations as well for safety. see the website for more details. 12% average grade, no guard rails.
if your cars' brakes suck, don't come (or ride shotgun with someone else). If you lose your brakes, you're dead. strict rules, so be sure to make sure what you're driving will qualify.
Vehicle Limits | Mt. Washington Auto Road
weight is an issue. Recommended 1 driver + 1 copilot. No more.
Cost: $25 per car, includes driver, + $8 per addtl passenger in said car. plus your gas/food costs, etc. There's little else up here, so it might be wise to bring food.
